Lejog day 9 Bristol to Chepstow

We'd been looking forward to this leg of the journey and it didn't disappoint. The highlight was crossing the Severn Bridge to Chepstow.  We wondered how windy and scary it might be but we were on the sheltered side of the bridge so it was all good.

We took a detour into Chepstow and had lunch by the River Wye  (very muddy - low tide!).  Bike cleaning happened here - Mick, I hope you're proud! We also met a couple who showed great interest in our journey so they were invited to take a card showing the blog address, which they did. If you read this I'm sorry neither of us can remember your names but it was nice to talk to you.

Last night we stayed at Clifton in a basement apartment owned by Ian, who lives at the same property with his wife Viviene. We arrived there to find him sitting out the front with a chainsaw on his lap! He must have registered the concerned look on our faces  quickly assuring us that he was just trying to do a repair job. Sailing is his main form of recreation; he has a 37 foot sailing boat which is kept in Scotland. He can sail it solo but is trying to get Vivienne interested as well!

We enjoyed our stay and thanks for helping us get the bikes up those steps.

Time for a pub meal now and a quiz hosted by Paddy McGuiness.
