Lejog day 20 Alston to Corbridge

The bar tv at Alston last night was showing the Europa League Final - Man United v Spurs. A group of men were watching - Man U supporters. Local men at that, many miles north of Manchester! One asked me: "You're not a Spurs supporter are you?"! I didn't tell him I used to go watching them with Sam. I just said that my son and his wife support them. Bottled it!

This morning when we got down to breakfast there was another cyclist. He'd cycled from York yesterday by a roundabout route  - 100 miles plus. He was heading for Moffat today, another hundred miles! Tomorrow he's due in Edinburgh and will be watching his daughter in the Edinburgh half marathon on Sunday. It puts our 30 mile a day lejog average into perspective but, as the hundred miler said, "It's not a race, enjoy it!".

Some beautiful roads today. A roads a lot of the way but quiet A roads. Uphill start from Alston for three miles to reach the top of the world and then a lovely downhill stretch for several miles. It was cold! Sunny but cold thanks to the north easterly wind driving head on into us. We're not complaining though. We rode to a park in Hexham and found a bench in the sun by the River Tyne where we ate our lunch. We spent quite a while here otherwise we would have arrived too early at our accommodation - we're so fast you see!

We're at Dyvel's Inn at Corbridge this evening.  Dinner yet to be enjoyed and breakfast included in the price.

The sun is still shining and we're happy. £2050 has now been raised for Kampala Children's Centre which is amazing. Thank you to all who have donated. We're very grateful as are KCC.
