Lejog day 15 Northwich to Adlington
A tale of four motorways and the Manchester Ship Canal.
Quite a long day today for us! 36 miles but no big hills. After we got out of Northwich the first dozen miles were fine, country lanes and quiet. Then we hit Leigh, the first of a series of Lancashire towns that merge into one another to make a huge urban sprawl!
The roads were busy with drivers impatient to get past two doddering cyclists! There were more manic motorists on this leg of the journey than all the others put together. We were relieved when cycle lanes appeared which wasn't that often.
Anyway here we are at Zoe and Glenn's house for the night.
Zoe is Rosie's niece but she's away in London for a night. She recently completed her postgraduate diploma in Digital Health Leadership and the Awards Ceremony is at the House of Lords as one of the module leads is Lord Darzi. Congratulations Zoe! Glenn and Toby are doing a terrific job at looking after us.
Rosie was quite excited today about crossing four motorways - M6, M56, M62 and M61. She stopped at each one to take photos. We went over the first three and under the M61. Three of them are shown on the YouTube video. The M62 one is missing as I accidently deleted it! I'm sure you're all devestated! But there is a photo to compensate for this omission.
We also crossed bridges over the Bridgewater Canal and the Manchester Ship Canal.
More urban sprawl tomorrow but then we'll be heading into Cumbria!
